The Long Version:
Mike Geary boldly states that contrary to what the infomercials are telling you abdominal exercises do not melt the fat away from your abs. Abdominal fat loss can only be accomplished through a proper diet and an intelligent exercise routine that targets over-all fat loss. He provides a lot of solid support for this premise and gives you the science along with his years of experience helping clients lose weight and get into great shape.
Even though this product is marketed heavily around the Holy Grail of fitness, six pack abs, all aspects of health, fitness and weight loss are covered. The book deals with getting rid of your stubborn stomach fat through diet and exercise.
Credit is given where it is due in the fat loss effort. First and foremost getting to see your stomach starts with the plate. Six pack abs are won and lost at the table not the gym. Appropriately, the first thing covered is the importance of your diet for getting into great shape. There is an old fitness saying “you can’t out run a bad diet.” That was true when it was first said and holds up to this day. Mike does not discount the role of exercise in weight loss and covers in detail using exercise to accelerate losing fat.
You’ll learn why most of the recommendations for ever more cardio exercise is an inefficient use of precious time and not the most effective fat loss method. You are then given the exercises that you should be using for fast weight loss. Just one exercise recommended in the book will do more for your abdominals than crunches ever will, but you are given a whole bunch to do.
Mike strongly advocates the use of full body exercise routines. The theme here is to get the most metabolic bang for one’s exercise buck. Also covered is why this method maximizes both your metabolism and hormonal response to the workouts recommended.
A few of the many things covered that will make getting into great shape much quicker and easier: • What, when and how to eat • How to control cravings • Tips to increase your metabolism, so you can burn fat all day long • Ready to go exercise routines • How to exercise properly
The diet and exercise facts are seperated from the fiction quite well and details for a complete exercise and fat loss program are given. The system laid out is not just great for getting six pack abs; it is also a solid foundation for any health and fitness goal. ‘The Truth about Six Pack Abs’ will show you how to make getting and staying lean a lifestyle.
The thing I like best about this book is that it’s got a good balance of what to eat (diet) and what to do (exercise.) A lot of other systems focus on either the nutritional side or the physical side leaving you to get information about the other aspect elsewhere.
At the time of this review you also get a good selection of bonus materials in addition to the main book:
- Turbulence Training DB-BW Fusion
- Ultimate Stair Exercises
- The End All Killer Ab Workout
- Smoothies For Athletes (Who doesn’t love smoothies?)
- Skyrocket Your Fat Loss Success
- 10 Minutes Full Body Stretch Routine (You need to stretch more… yes, I’m talking to you)
Something in the bonus materials that doesn’t quite go with the book’s theme is the inclusion of ‘The End All Killer Ab Workout.’ For someone who preaches that people spend too much time doing exercise directly for the stomach, why throw in an e-book dedicated to that?
Ultimately it does not detract from the otherwise solid information provided. There is also an add-on offer for ‘Eating Right Made Simple’ for $19. It is supposed to simplify the diet aspect but I didn’t feel that it added much more to the package. Your diet won’t suffer by not getting it. I suggest you pass on the offer and save the $19 to buy ingredients for smoothies, mmmmm… smoothies.
All this information may feel like overload at first just take it in slowly. Focus on reading The Truth About Six Pack Abs first and absorb as much as you can. After you have started seeing results then work the bonus materials into your routine. If you try to tackle everything at once you are going lose focus on the important stuff.
Mike Geary gives you the Truth About Six Pack Abs and much more for true fat loss. Throw in the bonus package of e-books and you are well equipped for the noble quest for six pack abs. Whether you are a beginner or a long time fitness enthusiast, a Man or a Woman you will find diet and exercise information in this book to help you get to the next level and beyond. Grab yourself a copy today and ditch the useless ab exercises.
